$57.00

“Ornamental deciduous shrub with multiple, erect, arching stems that form a loose, round shape. This ornamental native has creamy white, flat-topped flower clusters in spring, giving way to large clusters of dark blue berries in late summer, early fall.

Tolerant of a variety of conditions, Arrowwood Viburnum prefers moist, well drained sites and grows best in full sun to partial shade.

Ripened fruit hangs in clusters and is a favorite of wildlife. The dense foliage provide cover to birds and small woodland mammals, with the leaves, bark, and woody branches being preferred by beaver, deer and rabbit.”

Details

The Japanese Persimmon is a graceful tree that adds a steady, late-season pull to your land with its bright orange fruit lingering into fall and beyond. Spring brings small, creamy-white blossoms tucked among the leaves, their subtle presence setting up for the show ahead. By late fall—often October into winter—those flowers ripen into large, pumpkin-orange persimmons, sweet and juicy when fully soft, a rich draw for whitetails, birds, and other wildlife when they drop or hang low after the leaves are gone.Reaching 20-30’ with a rounded, spreading crown, the Japanese Persimmon thrives in full sun and well-drained soils, handling heat, mild drought once established, and a range of soil conditions from loamy to sandy. Its deep green leaves turn golden to orange in autumn, framing those persistent fruits that glow against bare branches in the cold months. These trees are self-fertile, producing reliably on their own, though nearby pollinators will improve production. Plant it solo or mix it with earlier bearers like plums or crabapples to extend the wildlife window deeper into the season. In USDA zones 7-10 (some hardy to zone 6 with protection), the Japanese Persimmon is a solid, low-drama choice for landowners enriching their deer habitat. It hangs on when others fade, and the tracks beneath it tell the tale.
